The Year Begins

Students in the Reconnecting Youth class have been working hard to develop community service projects for the upcoming semester. They have already lined up several exciting ones, including baking birthday cakes for children living in transitional shelters in the area, and participating in Montague Senior Center's "Coffee and Conversation" event each month. Here are their first impressions of what's to come.

  7. Some of our upcoming events include baking goods for old people. I think this is going to go farely well. It will give us a chance to socialize with the elderly and also come together as a group and bake a cake:)

KL - this looks like a great way to meet new people. I have always found that elderly people have great tales to tell. I'm looking forward to reading about the experience on your blog....Mr. K

  9. Our class is going to be baking food that we will be bringing to the senior center. I am very excited about this because I feel that it is rare for young people to go, sit down and conversation with senior citizens. I think that everyone is going to be able to take something from this experience. It is always wonderful when people from different generations can get together and talk. I am certainly looking forward to this experience.

  10. we have been talking lately about our community service projects, such as making cookies and bringing them don to the seniour center, yard work at the shelters, and also bithday cakes for the citizens at the family inn. I think that the outcome of these plans will come out great.i think we will follow through with everything we have planned. As long as we continue working as a team not just as 7 individuals in a classroom.
